Deputy Field Organizers

The Kentucky Democratic Party is seeking Deputy Field Organizers to deliver victories up and down the ballot on November 5, 2019!

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Kentucky Democratic Party Coordinated Campaign is hiring Deputy Field Organizers for the 2019 election cycle! The KDP Coordinated Campaign will work to elect Democrats up and down the ballot in Kentucky, including the Gubernatorial race — the top Democratic pickup opportunity in the country in 2019.

Deputy Field Organizers are part-time employees who will work with our existing teams of Field Organizers to implement an aggressive field plan and GOTV operation. Deputy Field Organizers will report directly to the Regional Field Director in his or her region.

Deputy Field Organizers will perform their job duties from one of the following Regional Field Offices: Louisville, Lexington, Paducah, Murray, Covington, and Eastern Kentucky.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Great interpersonal skills — ability to listen well and communicate effectively.
  • Adept at relationship-building with volunteers and voters.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work 20 hours per week and be flexible in a fast-paced office environment.
  • Experience volunteering or working for campaigns is a plus, but is not required.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable access to a vehicle and laptop computer.
  • Strong commitment to Democratic politics and ideals, and electing Democratic candidates in Kentucky.
  • Must be 18 or older; students seeking a part-time opportunity for professional development in the political field will be strongly considered.
  • Willingness to learn how to use new campaign-related digital tools such as Votebuilder, Canva, Google Suite, and others.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Help to train and manage volunteers and campaign interns
  • Participate in direct voter contact programs to persuade and mobilize voters on their doors and over the phone. Helping with volunteer recruitment, phone banks, dialers, and large-scale canvass days.
  • Meeting weekly voter contact and volunteer recruitment goals on an individual basis and as part of the Regional team.
  • Representing the Kentucky Democratic Party and candidates in your assigned region with professionalism and at some designated events.
