Kentucky Organizations Highlight Women’s March and Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Join your fellow Kentuckians in celebrating the 3rd Annual Women’s March this Saturday, and Martin Luther King, Jr. Day this coming Monday.

There are lots of speakers for the Lexington Women’s March including Democratic State House Representative Attica Scott of Louisville and Democratic State Senator Reggie Thomas of Lexington.

A variety of events are being held across Kentucky commemorating Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Monday, January 21, so bundle up and participate where you can!

Louisville is hosting two events: one with the U of L African American Theatre Program and another, at the Muhammad Ali Center, will screen MLK’s “I Have a Dream” speech every hour. In Lexington, the Carnegie Center for Literacy and Learning will host a community celebration at its stately Gratz Park location and the MLK Freedom March is sponsored by AVOL.

Berea College, the first college in the nation to educate freed slaves, is all over MLK Day. There will be a march for civil rights along with a variety of events sponsored by campus organizations including the Office of the President, Berea College Music Program, Black Cultural Center, Carter G. Woodson Center for Interracial Education, the Center for Excellence in Learning through Service (CELTS), Berea College Music Program, First Christian Church, Union Church, and Willis D.
