A historic number of black women now serve in the United States Congress. What is the role of black women in electoral politics, now, in the past, and in the future? How can black women maximize their effectiveness in office? How do racism and sexism change the practice of politics? We will have four guests, all national leaders in the study of black women in politics: Dr. Evelyn Simien, University of Connecticut; Dr. Nicole Alexander-Floyd, Rutgers University, Dr. Wendy Smooth, The Ohio State University, and Dr. Nadia Brown, Purdue University. Hosted by African American and Africana Studies Director Dr. Anastasia Curwood.
