Berg will not allow Kentucky to go backward
Dr. Karen Berg is running for the state’s 26th Senate District encompassing Oldham County and part of Jefferson County.
She faces incumbent Republican Sen. Ernie Harris in the general election.
Early on, Berg thought about a career in politics but instead chose medicine. Now that she is retired from decades as a radiologist, she was inspired to run for state office.
“Kentucky needs progressive voices in Frankfort,” Berg said. “I will be that progressive voice. We cannot allow Gov. Bevin to push Kentucky backward. I am running for state senator to help fix Frankfort and allow Kentucky to thrive. We must invest in education. We must protect our unions. We must protect equality. We must keep our schools and communities safe from gun violence.”
Berg believes education is the foundation of our democracy, but sadly it is not the priority of our Republican lawmakers in Frankfort.
Berg is an Emerge Kentucky alumni. Emerge Kentucky identifies, educates, and inspires Democratic women who want to pursue a career in politics at the local and state level in Kentucky.
As a lifelong physician, she saw the tremendous good former Gov. Steve Beshear’s Medicaid expansion provided Kentucky. Patients had access to doctors for the first time in their lives. Berg said she will never endorse Bevin’s dismantling of these expansions.
