New Poll Highlights Strong Support for Gov. Beshear

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Jan. 28, 2022) – A new poll released Friday shows broad support for Gov. Andy Beshear’s leadership with 60% of Kentuckians approving of how the Governor has run the state during two of the most trying years in Kentucky history.

Kentuckians in every region, women and men and Kentuckians of all ages approve of the Governor’s leadership during the pandemic that hit three months into his term and historic storms.

Despite those challenges, Gov. Beshear is leading Kentuckians during the strongest economic growth in the history of the commonwealth. The Governor announced a record 18,000 new jobs in 2021 alone with the companies investing $11.2 billion in Kentucky.

“A strong majority of Kentuckians know, despite the constant partisan political games and attacks from Republicans, that Gov. Beshear has shown incredible leadership and courage throughout this pandemic and through historic storms,” said Kentucky Democratic Party Executive Director Sebastian Kitchen. “Gov. Beshear has continued to put Kentucky families and the Kentucky economy ahead of politics, and with his leadership we are emerging with the strongest economy in our history.”

“Unfortunately, Republicans know Kentuckians approve of Gov. Beshear’s leadership so they will continue to attack and undermine him, putting politics ahead of what’s best for the people of Kentucky. They’re more worried about winning in 2023 than doing what’s right for the people they’re supposed to represent.”

Along with his strong leadership on the economy, pandemic and natural disasters, Gov. Beshear has kept his campaign promises to focus on issues important to Kentuckians including health care, education and good-paying jobs creating more opportunities for people throughout the commonwealth. The Governor relaunched kynect to expand access to affordable health care, has invested in high-speed internet, invested in infrastructure including roads and bridges and safe drinking water and prioritized public education.

People in every region of the commonwealth support Gov. Beshear, with his approval at at least 50% in every region including:

– 69% Louisville Metro
– 63% Lexington/Blue Grass
– 60% Northern Kentucky
– 54% Eastern Kentucky
– 51% Western Kentucky

Women (64%) and men (53%) approve of his performance as Governor.

More than 80% of Democrats and more than 60% of independents approve of the Governor’s job performance.

Sixty-three percent of Kentuckians 50 and older approve of Gov. Beshear with 57% of those under 50 approving of his leadership.

Despite the constant attacks, Gov. Beshear’s approval rating has gone up since the previous poll, from 55% to 60%, showing that a majority of Kentuckians have continued to support the Governor during his time in office. Since the last Mason Dixon poll in February 2021, the Governor has improved in Northern Kentucky, in Western Kentucky and among independent voters.
