Westrom works for a better Kentucky
Susan Westrom’s desire for a better Kentucky never fades.
Westrom has represented the state’s 79th House District which encompasses part of Fayette County for 19 years and she’s seeking reelection this fall.
“After representing the 79th District in the Kentucky General Assembly since 1999, I still feel the same sense of awe and responsibility fueling my desire for a better Kentucky,” Westrom said. “ Campaign season always feels like a family reunion as I go door to door to visit with old friends and meet new ones. Election time reinforces my commitment to the commonwealth and helps me gain insight on the continued needs of our children, adults, seniors and businesses.”
Westrom serves on the interim committees of Agriculture; Appropriations and Revenue; BR Sub. on Human Resources; Licensing, Occupations, and Administrative Regulations. She’s served on the session committees of Agriculture; Appropriations & Revenue; BR Sub. on Health & Family Services; Enrollment; Licensing, Occupations, & Admin Regs and on the Tax Expenditures Task Force special committee.
She’s a member of the Bourbon Trail Caucus, Central Kentucky Caucus, Kentucky Sportsmen’s Caucus and the Women’s Caucus.
“My legislative success is demonstrated by the vast number of bills passed and signed by every governor who served during my tenure,” Westrom said. “My most recent and frustrating challenge has been related to government corruption which has taken a large amount of courage to tackle because of the vast amount of obstacles in place to protect the traditions that have held Kentucky back.”
Over the years, the past session proved noteworthy for Westrom.
“Without a doubt, the 2018 legislative session was the most challenging during my service to Kentucky. I have always desired to tackle tough issues head-on in a transparent manner such as tax and pension reform and I have deep concerns that big money is corrupting our state government,” Westrom said.
“Freedom of speech is a powerful tool that was taken from our voters, and our minority party as well. I am calling on you to help me be part of the solution by fighting back. Your vote has never been more important in your lifetime.”
