KDP Statement on Passage of GOP-Backed Spending Plan that Betrays Trump’s Kentucky Voters

FRANKFORT, Ky.—Today, Kentucky Democratic Party (KDP) Chair Colmon Elridge released the following statement on the Trump-backed spending plan that will disrupt the lives of Kentucky families:

“The spending plan put forward by Donald Trump and congressional Republicans is going to hurt Kentuckians. It paves the way for Elon Musk to continue with devastating workforce cuts, strips $1 billion from flood mitigation projects, fails to provide disaster relief funds through FEMA and cuts millions from a broadband program that is critical to getting more Kentuckians online.

“The government should work for the people it represents. Democrats hoped to work with Republicans to keep our government open and accountable to the needs of all Americans. But Republicans, including most in Kentucky’s congressional delegation, chose to ram this bill through ahead of a government funding deadline instead of protecting the needs of their constituents.”
